One Option for New Allegany May Be Funds Re-Application

Dr. David Lever, executive director of the Maryland Interagency Committee on School Construction, tells WCBC News that one recommendation on the table for funding the new Allegany High School project would be to rescind the existing state commitment- and then re-applying for additional dollars. That plan is not without risk however as there is no guarantee a re-application would be approved; and it would also take the project beyond the current 93-7 state funding formula, with the new package instead falling into an 83-17 state/county split. Lever, who met Monday with members of the Allegany County Board of Education and the County Commissioners, said he can safely say that funding for the project would not be lost if there were to be a re-application:
