One Potential Roadblock Remains For New Allegany High School Project

While it now looks as though the funding package for the new Allegany High School project is nearly complete- one potential roadblock remains. Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine, in an interview with WCBC News, reiterated his view that he won’t commit ten million in county funds on behalf of the state- unless a written agreement with the state is in place.  Valentine first raised the issue last fall after the funding formula changed from a 93-7 split to an 83-17 split. With that change made, the state agreed to allocate an additional ten million for the project on the condition that the county front the money. Valentine says to date there is nothing in writing outlining a payback schedule- and he has heard a wide range of estimates coming from the Board of Education…
