During the past three months the Safe Streets Program has conducted warrant initiatives to address the goal of warrant reduction within the City of Cumberland and surrounding area.
In the course of these warrant sweeps a total of 77 suspects were apprehended, 106 arrest warrants served and 10 individuals with violent criminal histories arrested.
This recent warrant initiative, February 19 to March 1, 2013, we asked for citizen participation and the citizens are to be commended for providing law enforcement with information of the whereabouts and information leading to the apprehension and arrest of numerous wanted persons.
“It is certainly a significant benefit for law enforcement to receive calls from our fellow citizens and we appreciate their involvement in helping us take wanted offenders off the streets.” said David Goad, Safe Streets Project Coordinator.
Goad further commented, “This area has a great track record and excellent relationship with the citizens of Cumberland and throughout Allegany County in their desire to assist police by helping to reduce crime and keep our communities safe.”
The following wanted offenders were apprehended over the last two weeks by members of the Cumberland Police Department, Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police.
