Opposition to Bike Lane May Be Exaggerated

Opposition to a proposed bike lane on Frederick Street may have been slightly exaggerated.  Known as the Bedford/Frederick Street Bikeway, the plan would place a 5- to 6-foot-wide bike lane on Frederick Street beside the parking lane on the right side of the road. The plan would see the current two lanes on Frederick Street  reduced to one lane wide enough to allow cars to pull to the left if making a left-hand turn. Bedford Street will not have a bike lane but will feature ‘Share the Road’ signs instead. During the city’s February 17th meeting, opponents claimed to have a petition with more than 200 signatures- however Mayor Brain Grim said to date those signatures haven’t been produced…
