Organizations Make Their Case For Funding

The Allegany County Commissioners began the FY budget process in earnest Thursday afternoon listening to organizations making their case for funding.  Among those making their pitch, Allegany County Public Schools with a proposed 2016 operating budget at $110 million- more than $3 million more than the current fiscal 2015 budget. School officials asking the county to fund $28.6 million in operating funds and additional funding for teacher pensions. Among the other agencies making fund request presentations Thursday were the Allegany County Library System, the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad and Allegany College of Maryland. County Commissioners President Bill Valentine….                                                    

Among those on the budget hearing schedule next week with be the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department and the County Jail.
