PA Governor Announces Death Penalty Moratorium

February 14th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Governor Tom Wolf has announced a moratorium on the death penalty in Pennsylvania. A statement from his office issued Friday said the order will remain in effect "until the governor has received and reviewed the forthcoming report of the Pennsylvania Task Force and Advisory Commission on Capital Punishment."  As the first step, Gov. Wolf said he has granted a temporary reprieve to Terrance Williams, who was scheduled to be executed on March 4, 2015. Williams was sentenced to death for the 1984 murder of 56-year-old Amos Norwood in a Philadelphia cemetery.
