Pair Arrested for Road Rage With BB Gun

February 5th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

On February 5, 2020 at approximately 7:30 AM, the Cumberland Barrack received a 9-1-1 call regarding a road rage incident involving a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a black Pontiac passenger vehicle.  It was alleged during the emergency call that an occupant of the black Pontiac pointed a handgun at the Chevy truck and fired numerous shots.

Troopers quickly responded to the area and were able to locate the two vehicles involved in the incident.  A high risk traffic stop was initiated on the black Pontiac passenger car on the ramp from eastbound I-68 to High Germany Road, near the Allegany and Washington County lines.  Both occupants of the Pontiac, Jerrold Gurney (19) of East Palestine, OH and Carter Melott (19) of New Castle, PA were detained.  A search of the Pontiac resulted in the recovery of a black semi-automatic style BB gun.  Further investigation revealed that the truck belonging to the victim, James Iser (45) of Fort Ashby, WV, sustained a shattered passenger side window from being struck several times by the BB gun.

After consultation with the Allegany County State’s Attorney’s Office, it was determined that both Gurney and Melott would be charged criminally for this incident.  Both are currently being held at the local detention center pending their initial appearance on 1st/2nd Degree Assault, and Reckless Endangerment charges.  There were no injuries reported during this incident.
