Park Service Drops Fee Proposal

February 7th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

The National Park Service is dropping plans to expand its collection of entrance fees for users of the C&O Canal National Historical Park and also has revised its proposed fees for campgrounds and pavilion rental fees. C&O Canal Superintendent Kevin Brandt said in a news release Friday that the changes are being made at the midway point of public hearings on the proposals. “Having heard concerns over the proposal for new fees, the park has decided to rescind its proposal to expand fee collection,” the news release stated. The park is still proposing to moderately increase existing entrance, campground and pavilion rental fees only at park locations where fees are currently collected.
