January 1st, 2020 by WCBC Radio

A fast moving fire destroyed the lodge at Avalon Resort near Paw Paw on News Year’s Eve. The Cumberland Times News reports volunteer firefighters from three states battled the blaze, which was first reported about 4 p.m. There were reportedly no injuries. First-arriving firefighters found flames through the roof of the lodge, but were able to stop the fire before it reached the resort's pool and bar area, according to the Slanesville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company. The fire was brought under control about 5:30 p.m. and all firefighters had left the scene by 9:30 p.m. The resort posted on Facebook that it would be closed indefinitely. "Due to an emergency the Avalon Lodge and Indoor Aquatics Center is closed until further notice. More details will be posted as they become available," read the post. According to its website, Avalon is a clothing-optional resort located on over 140 acres of woodland.

Thank god they saved the bar. I’m not going to a nudist resort in this area without having a few stiff drinks.
