Paw Paw to get improved internet, cell access

June 20th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

The small town of Paw Paw – located in rural, western Morgan County – has a population of about 500 people, and a few stores. It also has long been without reliable cell phone and internet access. WHAG TV reports  a deal to bring in the area's first wireless carrier may change that.  U.S. Cellular announced on Tuesday that it plans to become the first provider available in the area, bringing in the advantages of modern technologies like wireless services for cell phones and broadband. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) initiated the search for a carrier earlier this year. Robert Ford, a member of the Morgan County Commission, said that about eight years ago, a cell phone tower was constructed just outside of Paw Paw. However, no company had stepped forward to provide service until now.
