Plans Made To Move Ahead On “Opportunity Scholarship”

The Allegany County Commissioners, after a discussion of a draft resolution during Thursday’s work session, plan to move ahead with the establishment of what is being called an “Opportunity Scholarship” for county residents. The scholarship includes both Allegany College of Maryland and Frostburg State University. Funds will be provided from a portion of the county government’s share of the annual gross revenue generated by the video lottery machines at the Rocky Gap Casino Resort.  Dr Cynthia Bambara, ACM President, said the establishment of the scholarship reflects genuine commitment to education on the part of the commissioners….
