Plans Moving Forward To Demolish Former Memorial Hospital

The Cumberland Mayor and City Council continues to move forward with plans to demolish the former Memorial Hospital facility with hopes that the property can be utilized for private development opportunities. The council made the decision last summer after it became apparent that a mixture of small private commercial operations at the location were not proving profitable. Cost of demolition will be about $3 and a half million. City Administrator Jeff Rhodes says the project is on schedule and the goal is for demolition to take place sometime this summer…
