Police Arrest Man for Disorderly Conduct

On August 8, 2019 an officer from the Cumberland City Police Department was on patrol in the area of Mechanic Street and Bedford Street when he observed a male subject identified as, Thomas Griggs, walking in the middle of the street.  The officer observed numerous vehicles stopping and driving around Griggs to avoid striking him.  The officer contacted Griggs and advised him that he could not be obstructing the flow of traffic.  Griggs was directed toward the sidewalk and the officer cleared the area.  A few hours later the same officer was on patrol in the area of Centre Street when he observed Griggs walking in the middle of the street yelling at four individuals who were walking on the sidewalk.  The officer made contact with Griggs and advised him to lower his voice and to once again exit the roadway.  Griggs began to yell at the officer and refused to get out of the street.  Griggs was arrested as a result of this incident.  Griggs was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Griggs was processed and issued a criminal citation and later released pending a trial date in District Court.

Charge: Disorderly Conduct
