Police Arrest One in Knife Assault

At approximately 4: 50 p.m. officers from the Cumberland Police Department were called to a Lamont Street residence for an assault with a knife.  Officers arrived and made contact with the victim as well as other witnesses to the incident.  Officers learned that Daniel Ellijah Mulkey got into an assault with other family members inside the apartment.  Mulkey made threats that he was going to kill a family member and grabbed a knife.  The victim also had visible signs of injury as a result of the assault.  Officers placed Mulkey under arrest for the assault.  He was transported to Cumberland Police Department for processing.  Mulkey a juvenile was charged as an adult and taken before the District Court Commissioner for a hearing. Mulkey was later transported to the Allegany County Detention Center where he was held without bond pending trial.

Charges: Attempted 1st Degree Assault (2 counts), and 2nd Degree Assault (2 counts)
