August 14th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

On August 12, 2019 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 325 North Centre Street for a report of two individuals arguing inside the restaurant.   Upon the officers arrival they contacted Devante Love and Kayla Corey.  Both subject advised officers that they were traveling through the area arguing and decided to pull over to eat.  Kayla explained to officers that she was trying to get away from Love because he had been drinking.  The officers explained to both subjects to refrain from arguing in a public place and referred them to a nearby truck stop to eat.  The officers cleared the call with no arrests being made.

Several minutes’ later officers were dispatched to the area of Centre Street near Wendy’s restaurant for a report of a male and female arguing in the street.  As the officer approached the two subjects he noticed the male standing over a female yelling as she was lying on the ground.  Officers observed a group of people in the area watching the two subjects as they were arguing.  As a result both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Love and Corey were processed, served and released on criminal citations.
