Police Handle Drug, Indecent Exposure Cases

SUMMONS SERVICE

On Friday February 26, 2016, Cumberland City Police served a criminal summons on Jason Preston, age 33 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The summons was issued as a result of a February 16, 2016 incident that occurred at a private residence on Fayette Street where it was alleged that on several occasions, Preston inappropriately exposed himself to the thirty year old victim that was in his residence.  Preston was served and released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.

CHARGE:  Indecent Exposure.

WARRANT/CDS

On Friday February 26, 2016, a Cumberland City Police Officer on patrol observed Erik Rice, age 36 of Cumberland, Maryland walking in the area of Queen City Pavement.  A check for wanted was conducted and it was learned that Rice had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for trial in Baltimore, Maryland.  Rice was placed in custody and upon conducting a search incident to arrest; a marihuana paraphernalia device was located on Rice’s person.  Rice was taken to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  He was criminally cited for the paraphernalia charge and was released on his personal recognizance following a bond hearing for the warrant out of Baltimore County, Maryland.

CHARGES:  Possession of Marihuana Paraphernalia, Fail to Appear.

CDS ARREST

On Friday February 26, 2016, at 7:38 pm, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of Princeton Street for a disturbance.   Upon arrival officers located Aaron Soules, age 26 of Cumberland hiding behind a dresser.  Upon being ordered to come out, officers noticed that Soules was concealing a marihuana smoking device in his left hand.  Officers approached Soules to place him in custody and upon doing so, Soules tried repeatedly to pull away to avoid arrest.  Soules was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed, served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond review.  Soules was held on a $1,500.00 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.
