Local Man Facing Assault Charges

On Thursday January 8, 2015, at 10:43 am Cumberland City Police responded to a private residence on Union Street in reference to an Assault.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Robert Adams Jr., age 48, engaged in a verbal dispute that led to Adams assaulting the victim by punching her in the face.  Visible injuries were observed to the victim and as a result, Adams was placed under arrest and was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed and served.  Adams was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioners Office for a bond hearing and was held on a $2,600.00 dollar bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.  The victim did not require medical attention.

CHARGES:  Assault 2nd Degree.

SUMMONS SERVICE

On Wednesday January 8, 2015, Cumberland City Police served a criminal summons on Terri Martin, age 39 of Cumberland.  Charges in this matter were filed by a private business in Lavale, Maryland as a result of a December 24, 2014 incident where Martin allegedly stole a quantity of store owned items and upon doing so, attempted to leave business without making payment. Martin was served and released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.
