Cumberland Police Arrest Three On Drug Charges

On 01/16/16 Cumberland Police Officers were on routine patrol and observed a vehicle speeding on Industrial Blvd near South Street.  Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the driver, Kendall Ryan Jr., and a passenger, Skyler Martin. Upon speaking with Ryan, Officers detected an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.  Officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle.  The search resulted in the officers locating 35 grams of marijuana under the driver’s seat of the vehicle.  Officers also located paraphernalia commonly used to smoke and also package a controlled dangerous substance for sale.  Ryan and Martin were then placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Department for processing.  Ryan and Martin were then transported to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office and were each released on an unsecured bond.

Charges: CDS Possession with Intent to Distribute, CDS Possession and CDS Possession of Paraphernalia.

Skyler Martin                                                  Age: 20                                   Oldtown, MD

Charges: CDS Possession with Intent to Distribute, CDS Possession and CDS Possession of Paraphernalia.

 

CDS Arrest –

On 01/17/16 Cumberland City Police Officers were on routine patrol and observed a vehicle cross the center line on White Oaks Avenue on three occasions.  Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Oldtown Road.  They contacted the driver, Curtis Rinehart, and upon speaking with him the Officer was able to detect an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.  The driver and several occupants then exited the vehicle.  Upon a probable cause search of the vehicle, Officers located suspected marijuana and an open container of Vodka underneath the driver’s seat.  Three of the passengers in the vehicle were issued Alcohol Citations for possession of Alcohol under the age of 21.  The driver, Curtis Rinehart, was placed under arrest for the possession of marijuana.  As a result of the search of the vehicle 13 grams of marijuana was located.  Rinehart was transported to the Cumberland Police Department for processing.  He was later transported to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office and was released on his personal recognizance.
