Breaking and Entering/Assault Arrest

On January 19, 2015 at approximately 10:22 PM, officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Willow Woods apartment 3202D for an assault complaint.  Upon the officers arrival they made contact with a female victim.  While speaking with the victim, she informed the officers that her ex-boyfriend, Tayaun Antonio Satterwhite entered her apartment through an unlocked front door.  After Satterwhite entered the apartment uninvited, he took the victim to her bedroom where an argument ensued.  While in the bedroom, the victim was sitting on the bed when Satterwhite locked the door.  During the argument the victim said she tried to exit the room twice, but she was pushed back by Satterwhite, preventing her from being able to leave.   The victim told officers that Satterwhite punched her in the face with a closed fist causing injuries.  The victim was able to get out of the apartment and the police were called.  Officers on the scene noticed the victim to have a swollen lip and a swollen jaw.   The Cumberland City Fire Department also responded to the scene and transported the female victim to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for treatment.  Satterwhite was located a short time later at the security building where he was also interviewed.  Satterwhite told officers that he was involved in an argument with the female victim and claimed that he shoved her at which time her head struck a wall inside the apartment.  As a result of this incident, Satterwhite was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Satterwhite was later taken before the District Court Commissioner where he was held in the Allegany County Detention Center on a temporary commitment.
