Disorderly Conduct / Littering Arrest

On Thursday, January 22, 2015 at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence located on High Bedford Street in reference to a traffic complaint due to resident throwing items out into the street.  Upon the officers arrival debris including trash and broken household items were observed in the street.  Officers contacted the suspect, Maria Defatima Santos Monteiro.  Monteiro was advised that she can’t throw these items out into the street.  Montreiro was instructed to clean the mess up.  Montreiro refused to clean up the items which were now blowing throughout the neighborhood.  Montreiro became uncooperative and began to yell and scream.  Montreiro was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and littering and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Montreiro was released on her personal recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.

Charges:

Disorderly conduct and littering.
