Police Log – 03-30-15

On Sunday March 29, 2015, at 1:39 pm, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to the 600 block of Elm Street for a Burglary.  Officers arrived and observed an open window to a vacant residence.  A check of the premises was conducted and upon doing so officers located John Clair, age 50, wearing a facial disguise inside the house.  Clair was placed in custody and upon conducting a search incident to arrest; officers located a suspected crack cocaine smoking device in his possession.  A result of the investigation it was learned that Clair had stolen household items from the residence.  Clair was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed and served.  He was later taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing and was held on a $20,000.00 dollar bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

CHARGE:  Burglary 1st Degree, Theft less than $1,000.00 dollars, Possession of Paraphernalia.

ASSAULT

On Sunday March 29, 2015, at 9:53 pm, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to a private residence in the 300 block of Arch Street for a reported Assault.  Contact was made with the victim who was visibly upset.  Investigation revealed that Roy Dye, age 35, allegedly wrestled the victim to the ground, temporarily choked her and bit her nose.  The victim was able to break free to call the Police.  Dye was placed in custody and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed and served.  Dye was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing and was held on a $5,500.00 dollar bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.  Members of the Cumberland Fire Department ambulance personnel responded to render aid to the victim.  She did not require medical attention.
