Police Log – 03/06/15

ASSAULT

On Thursday March 5, 2015, Cumberland City Police investigated an assault that occurred at a private residence in Columbia Street.  The victim, a vulnerable adult, was an elderly female who had been deemed not capable of fully taking care of herself.  Investigation revealed that Frederick Gentry, age 48, assaulted the victim when he allegedly struck her in the eye with a closed fist as a result of an argument between the two.  Further investigation revealed that Gentry was not providing the proper care for the victim as she indicated to officers that she hadn’t been properly nourished or fed for the past few days.  Visible injury to the victim’s eye was observed.  Gentry was placed in custody and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed and served.  Gentry later taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing and was held on a $7,500.00 dollar bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.  Adult Protective Services assisted officers with the investigation.  The victim was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Center for a general medical evaluation.

CHARGES:  Assault 2nd Degree, Vulnerable Adult Abuse (2 counts).
