Police Log – 03/30/14

On Saturday March 29, 2014, at 4:29 am, a Cumberland City Police Officer on patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a lane violation Industrial Boulevard.  Upon obtaining vehicle information, it was revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen from Morgan County, West Virginia.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as Mathew Deyarmin, age 25 of Indiana, Pennsylvania.  Once confirmation of the stolen vehicle was made, Deyarmin was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  He was later taken for a bond hearing at the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office where he was released on his personal recognizance pending trial.  Additional charges are pending on Deyarmin in Morgan County, West Virginia.

CHARGES:  Motor Vehicle/Unlawful Taking, Theft 1k-10k.

ASSAULT

On Saturday March 29, 2014, at 5:13 pm, Cumberland City Police Officer’s responded to a private residence on Pennsylvania Avenue in reference to a reported disturbance.  Investigation into this matter revealed that family members were upset in regards to the treatment of a minor child.  Several interviews were conducted and it was learned that Charles George, age 32 of Cumberland, struck the victim in the buttocks with a canvas material type dog leash.  Visible injuries were observed on the victim who stated that he was whipped by George with the leash earlier in the day.  George was placed in custody and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was charged and processed.  George was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing and was released on a $10,000.00 dollar unsecured bond pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.  The victim did not require medical attention.

CHARGES:  2nd Degree Child Abuse.  Assault 2nd Degree.

ASSAULT

On Saturday March 29, 2014, at 9:43 pm, Cumberland City Police Officer’s responded to a business on Industrial Boulevard for an Assault.  Upon arrival officers observed Brian Shipway, age 39 of Cumberland acting in a disruptive manner and disturbing the peace of other patrons.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Shipway was observed following the victim outside the establishment, grabbing her by the hair and allegedly slapping her in the face.  Shipway was placed under arrest and was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed and served.  Shipway was taken to a bond hearing at the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing and held on a $5,000.00 dollar bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.  The victim did not require medical attention.

CHARGES:  Assault 2nd Degree, Disorderly Conduct.
