Police Log – 05-04-15

On 05/03/15 Officer’s with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a residence located in the 400blk of Walnut St in reference to a reported domestic assault. Upon arrival Officers contacted the victim who advised that an argument took place which occurred on May 2nd. During this altercation the victim in this case advised that they were stuck in the mouth by the suspect who was identified as 27 year old Christopher Shawn Bowie of Cumberland. The victim stated that on this date, Bowie became physical again slapping them in the face. Officers observed injuries consistent with the victim’s account of events which did not require medical condition. Bowie was located a short distance away from the scene where he was taken into custody without incident. Bowie was transported to the Cumberland Police Dept where he was charged with two counts of second degree assault. Bowie was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was held on a $3,500.00 bail. He was then remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center.

May 3rd, 2015                                                                        Shoplifting

On 05/03/15 The Cumberland Police Dept responded to a business located in the 700blk of Park St in reference to a shoplifting complaint. Upon arrival Officer’s contacted store personal who advised that they observed a female take several items and attempt to leave the store without paying for them. The suspect who was identified as 43 year old Leslie Marie Powell-Holloman of Cumberland was charged with one count of Theft Under $100 and released on a Maryland Criminal Citation pending trial in District Court.  

May 3rd, 2015                                                     Arrest Warrant Served

On 05/03/15 The Cumberland Police Dept served an Arrest Warrant on 24 year old Nicolas Joseph Datri of Cumberland. The warrant stems from an investigation initiated on 04/19/15 when Officer’s responded to the 600blk of Fairview Ave in reference to a theft of a motor vehicle. Upon Officer’s arrival it was determined that a vehicle had been stolen from the residence. The owner of the vehicle told officers that she did not loan out or give anyone permission to take the vehicle. Later that day Officers were dispatched to the area of Baltimore Ave in reference to the vehicle being located. The vehicle was processed at the scene by a Cumberland Police Crime Scene Technician and released back to the owner. Through further investigation and witness interviews it was determined that Datri was responsible for the motor vehicle theft.  Datri was located and taken into custody in the early morning hours of 5/3/15. Datri was transported to the Cumberland Police Dept where he was processed and charged with Motor Vehicle Theft, Theft $10,000 to under $100,000, Unauthorized Removal of Property, and Driving vehicle without owner’s consent with intent to deprive the owner. Datri was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was held on a $15,000 bail. Datri was transported and released to the Allegany County Detention Center pending his next court appearance.

May 3rd, 2015                                                                Tampering with Motor vehicle

On 05/03/15 at 6:15am Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to the area of Baltimore Ave in reference to a subject possibly tampering with a motor vehicle. Upon arrival Officers made contact a witness who advised that they observed a male subject attempting to enter unoccupied parked vehicles in this area. Officers are asking residents in this area to contact the Cumberland Police Dept at 301-777-1600 if they would discover any missing items from their vehicles or that their vehicles were tampered with.
