Police Log – 05-14-15

On Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 200 block of  Wempe Drive in reference to a request for officer.  Police dispatch advised that an argument was taking place at this residence and one of the subjects involved in the argument currently has a warrant out for his arrest.  Dispatch confirmed that the suspect, Michael Adrian Munday was currently wanted on an arrest warrant.  Upon the officers arrival one of the complainants flagged down the officer and advised him that the “wanted” subject, Michael Adrian Munday was fleeing from the back of the residence.  The officer immediately responded to the rear of the residence and located Munday.  The officer gave commands ordering Munday to turn around and place his behind his back and that he was under arrest.  Munday refused to listen to the commands even as the officer moved closer.  Munday assaulted the officer by spitting on him.  The officer grabbed Munday by the arm in an attempt to place him under arrest, Munday pulled away and began shoving and pushing the officer away.  Munday continued to resist and struggle with the officer for a short time until the officer was able to gain control and place Munday under arrest.  A search of Munday’s person revealed two pills in a plastic baggie, and several hypodermic needles.

 

Munday was transported to police headquarters for processing and was later taken to District Court for his initial appearance and held on $5,000.00 at the Allegany County Detention Center.

 

Arrested:

 

Michael Adrian Munday – age 26 – Cumberland, MD

 

Charges:

 

Second degree assault, resisting arrest, obstructing and hindering, failure to obey a reasonable and lawful order, CDS possession-not marijuana, CDS possession of drug paraphernalia, and CDS administering equipment (hypodermic syringes).

 

The original warrant charges Munday with second degree assault.

CDS Arrests

 

On Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at approximately 7:30 p.m., a Cumberland Police Officer stopped a vehicle on Park Street at Union Street after observing an equipment violation.  The officer contacted that operator, Donna Louise Minch and passenger, DeWayne Anthony Jones.  The officer noticed that both subjects were acting in a nervous manner.  The officer requested a K-9 to respond to the scene to conduct a drug scan of the vehicle.  The K-9 arrived and conducted the scan which resulted in a positive alert for the presence or odor of a controlled dangerous substance.  The vehicle was searched which revealed CDS drug paraphernalia in and around the area of the operator, Donna Minch and the passenger DeWayne Jones was found to be in possession of Marijuana.  Both were placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Once at Police Headquarters a more thorough search was conducted and Jones was found to be in possession of Heroin and Crack Cocaine.  The additional CDS located on Jones was packaged in a manner which indicated the intent to distribute the CDS.

 

Minch was issued a criminal citation charging her with possession of drug paraphernalia and released pending trial at District Court.

 

Jones was charged with the following;

 

-Two counts of CDS possession-not Marijuana.

-Two counts of possession of CDS with the intent to deliver.

-One count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Jones was taken to District Court for his initial appearance and held at the Allegany county Detention Center on $5,000.00.

DeWayne Anthony Jones – age 31 – Cumberland, MD
