May 7th, 2014 Criminal Summons Served
On 05/07/14 Officers from the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Janelle Keating 38 years of age, of Cumberland. The Summons stems from Keating contacting the Cumberland Police Dept on 05/07/14 at 1236am stating that she had been the victim of an assault. Further investigation into this incident revealed that Keating had filed a false report of the incident. As a result the Officer filed for charges through the District Court which resulted in the summons being issued. Keating was charged with False statement to a police officer and was released on the Summons pending trial in District Court
May 7th, 2014 Destruction of Property
On 05/07/14 an Officer with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a business located in the 200blk of Union St in reference to a destruction of property complaint. Upon arrival it was learned that sometime on 05/04/14 person(s) unknown had damaged several machines in attempts to remove coins from within. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time. May 7th, 2014 Hit and Run
On 05/07/14 at 11:28am Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to the 400blk of Tilghman St in reference to a hit and run. Upon arrival Officers contacted the victim in this case who stated that sometime overnight an unknown vehicle had struck her parked vehicle causing moderate damage to the driver side door area. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cumberland Police Dept at 301-777-1600.
