WARRANT SERVICE

On Monday May 18, 2015, Cumberland City Police served a bench warrant on Joshua Richard, age 29 of Cumberland.  The warrant was issued as a result of Richard failing to appear for court on May 12, 2015 for a previous Theft arrest.  Richard was processed, served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing and was released on his personal recognizance.

ATTEMPTED CAR JACKING

On Monday May 18, 2015, at 10:42 pm, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to the area of Baltimore Avenue and Queen City Drive for an attempted carjacking complaint.  Contact was made with the victim who advised that while stopped in his vehicle at the stop light on Queen City Drive, John Blank Jr., age 18, approached him  with a large rock in his hand.  Blank attempted to open the door of the vehicle and demanded the victim out of the car.  When the victim refused, Blank threw the rock at the victim striking him in the leg.  The victim accelerated his vehicle and fled the area.  After a description of Blank was given, he was located in a parking lot on George Street where he was placed in custody.  Blank was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed and served.  He was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond review and held on a $7,500.00 dollar bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.  The victim did not require medical attention.

CHARGES:  Assault 2nd Degree, Attempted Carjacking, Resisting Arrest, Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft, Reckless Endangerment.
