Cumberland man arrested following breaking and entering

On Thursday July 09, 2015 at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to an apartment building located in the 100 block of Polk Street in reference to an assault.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with the victim who stated that he was just assaulted by Robert Kyle Miller.  The victim stated that Miller arrived at his residence and forced his way in the door and assaulted him by punching and kicking him.  The victim stated Miller left the residence after the assault.  The victim stated that a short time later Miller arrived back at his residence this time armed with a large kitchen style knife.  The victim stated that Miller entered through the front door again without permission, holding the knife pointing it directly at the victim and began charging after him.  The victim fled to the kitchen area and a brief struggle ensued.  The victim was able to push Miller from his residence and call the police.

Miller resides in the same apartment building; officers responded to his apartment and located him hiding in a closet.  Miller was placed under arrest.

The victim was not cut or stabbed with the knife and did not require medical treatment for any injuries.

Miller was transported to District Court for his initial appearance and was released on his personal recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.

Arrested:

Robert Kyle Miller – age 43 – Cumberland, MD

Charges:

Second degree assault, reckless endangerment, third degree burglary, and forth degree burglary.

 

Disorderly Conduct Arrest

On Thursday, July 09, 2015 at approximately 10:15 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 700 block of Greene Street in reference to a male subject lying in the roadway.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with the male subject who was later identified as Steven Delaine Kienhofer.  The officer began trying to speak with Kienhofer about the dangers of lying in or near the roadway.  Kienhofer initially gave the officer a false name.  Kienhofer began yelling and swing his arms in an erratic manner.  Kienhofer’s behavior drew the attention of others in this area.  The officer instructed Kienhofer to stop creating a disturbance but he refused and continued.  Due to Kienhofer’s continued disorderly behavior he was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Kienhofer was later taken to District court for his initial appearance and released on his personal recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.

Arrested:

Steven Delaine Kienhofer – age 62 – Cumberland, MD

Charges:

Disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, false statement to a police officer, obstructing and hindering.

 

Breaking and Entering

On Friday, July 10, 2015 at approximately 3:00 a.m., a Cumberland Police Department Officer on patrol observed the front door glass at Pyzanos Restaurant located on Greene Street to be busted out.  Unknown suspect gained entry into the business and caused damage by knocking numerous items to the ground.  Maryland State Police Crime Lab responded to the scene to collect evidence.  Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Cumberland Police Department at 301-777-1600.
