Police Log – 07/15/15

ASSAULT ARREST:

   

    On 07/14/2015, during the early morning hours, Cumberland City Police officers were dispatched to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center in order to interview a reported assault victim.  Upon arrival to the hospital officers interviewed the victim. The victim reported that they had been assaulted at a Decatur Street residence and suffered injuries that required treatment.  Officers conducted an investigation and found the following:

    On this date the victim and a roommate had been arguing inside their residence over personal property.  During the argument the suspect in this case allegedly picked up an electronic device and threw it at the victim striking them on the face which caused injuries. 

   Officers were later able to locate the suspect in this case who was identified by the victim as David Allen Thompson, 35, of Cumberland.  Based on the investigation Thompson was placed under arrest and transported to Cumberland Police Headquarters where he was charged with the following:

 

Assault 2nd Degree – 1 count

 

Thompson was processed and taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance.  Thompson was later released on his personal recognizance pending trial.

 

 

 

ASSAULT ARREST:

 

    On 07/14/2015, during the early evening hours, Cumberland City Police officers were dispatched to a Potomac Street residence several times within the span of one hour in reference to disturbances occurring between roommates that were moving out. Officers were called to the same residence a third time where they made contact with a victim who reported that Raymond Travis Larson, 41 of Cumberland, assaulted them by allegedly charging at them with a large metal bar in his hands while verbally threatening their life.  Officers were able to locate several people in the area who witnessed the assault and disturbance. 

 

Witnesses reported that Larson was still inside the residence and officers ordered him to come outside several times.  Larson initially refused to comply but did eventually exit the building.  Officers advised Larson that he was under arrest and Larson resisted officers as they attempted to place him in handcuffs.  Larson was placed under arrest and transported to Cumberland Police Headquarters where he was charged with the following:

 

Assault 1st Degree – 1 count

 

Assault 2nd Degree – 1 count

 

Deadly Weapon Intent to Injure – 1 count

 

Failure to Obey a Lawful Order – 1 count

 

Resisting Arrest – 1 count

 

Disorderly Conduct – 1 count

 

Disturbing the Peace – 1 count

 

 

Larson was processed for the above charges and taken for an initial appearance at the Allegany County District Court.  Larson was subsequently held at the Allegany County Detention Center on a $5000.00 bond.
