Cumberland Police Make Drug Bust

On Wednesday at 8:38 AM, officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to Frederick St for a possible motor vehicle crash. When officers arrived on the scene they found a single vehicle stopped in the roadway.  Officers made contact with the occupants and found that one of the subjects in the vehicle was having a medical emergency. The Cumberland Fire Department was summoned to the scene to treat the emergency. At this time officers noticed the other occupants were acting in a suspicious manner. Officers then began to question the occupants including the driver Jeffery Hamilton about their suspicious behavior. After speaking to the occupants, officers were provided consent to search the vehicle. During the search officers located CDS and controlled paraphernalia. Upon questioning the occupants about the items located, Hamilton advised officers it belonging to him.  At this time Hamilton was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Department.   Hamilton was then processed and taken in front of the Commissioner for his Initial Appearance. Hamilton was then released from District Court on his own recognizance awaiting trial.

Charges: Possession of CDS other than Marijuana

Arrested: Jeffery Hamilton                          Age: 50
