Police Log – 08/04/2014

On Sunday, August 03, 2014 at approximately 3:24 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to a disturbance taking place in the parking lot of Sheetz on Virginia Avenue.  Officers arrived on the scene and separated the parties involved.  One female in particular, Latoya Jonielle Mundy continued to create a disturbance by yelling and screaming even after being told to calm down by officers.  Mundy failed to comply and continued to act in a disorderly manner which disturbed the public peace.  Mundy was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing.  Mundy was then issued a criminal citation and released pending further action at District Court at a later date.

Arrested:  Latoya Jonielle Mundy – age 33 – Cumberland, MD

Charge:  On count of disorderly conduct.

 

On Sunday, August 03, 2014 at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to two separate locations located on the Industrial Boulevard in reference to a shoplifter.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with two witnesses; the first witness stated that Felicia Raye Deetz stole items from both stores and placed them into her vehicle, the second witness stated that she observed Deetz placing items into her purse while inside the second store.  Deetz was contacted and placed under arrest.  During a search of Deetz drug paraphernalia was located inside her purse.  Deetz was transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Deetz was then issued three criminal citations and released pending further action at District Court at a later date.

Arrested:  Felicia Raye Deetz – age 41 – Ridgeley, WV

Charges:  Two counts of theft and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

On Sunday, August 03, 2014 the Cumberland Police Department arrested Jacob Lee Haines on an arrest warrant.  The warrant stems from an assault investigation which was reported to police on July 31, 2014.  On that date officers responded to the 300 block of Cecelia Street and spoke with the victim who advised that he was assaulted by Haines.  The victim stated that Haines arrived in the area, jumped out of his vehicle and began assaulting him by kicking and punching.  The victim stated that Haines then grabbed an axe and attempted to swing it at the victim.  The victim was able to grab Haines and take the axe away from him.  A witness on the scene was contacted and she provided the same information about the assault.  Haines fled the area prior to officers arriving on the scene.  The axe was collected at the scene and placed into evidence at Police Headquarters.  Charges against Haines were applied for at District Court which resulted in the warrant being issued. 

Haines was served with the warrant and taken to District Court for his initial appearance.  Haines was released on his personal recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.

Arrested:  Jacob Lee Haines – age 25 – Cumberland, MD

Charges:  First degree assault, second degree assault, deadly weapon with the intent to injure, and disorderly conduct.
