On Tuesday August 12, 2014, Cumberland City Police served a criminal summons on Richard Whaley, age 40 of Cumberland.  The charges in this matter were filed by a private citizen who alleged that on August 9, 2014, Whaley assaulted him.  The incident occurred in the 100 block of Arch Street where Whaley punched the victim in the face and threw him on the ground.  Whaley was served and released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.  The victim did not require medical attention.

CHARGE:  Assault 2nd Degree.

SUMMONS SERVICE

On Tuesday August 12, 2014, Cumberland City Police served a criminal summons on Angela Passman, age 22 of Frostburg, Maryland.  The charges were filed as a result of a investigation handled by Cumberland City Police Officers at a medical office on Willowbrook Road.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Passman allegedly forged a prescription sheet in order to obtain narcotic medication.  Office personnel called the police once the prescription was found to be fraudulent.  Passman was served and released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.

CHARGES:  CDS Obtain by Altering Prescription, Forgery, Possess Forged Prescription, Prescription Obtain by Forgery.

VIOLATION OF EX-PARTE

On Tuesday August 12, 2014, at 10:14 pm, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of West First Street.  It was learned that Dustin Edwards of Cumberland was at said residence when he had been previously court ordered to stay away from the property as a result of an Ex-Parte order issued against him.  Edwards had left the property prior to the officer’s arrival but was located on Virginia Avenue and placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  It was also revealed that Edwards had an arrest warrant as a result of a Breaking and Entering incident on Hill Street that occurred earlier in the day.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Edwards entered a private residence and stole some miscellaneous household items.  Edwards was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioners Office where he was held on a $10,000.00 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

CHARGES:  Violation of Ex-Parte Order, Breaking and Entering.
