Police Log – 09/23/14

On Monday, September 22, 2014 at approximately 11:33 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to the Sheetz Store located on Virginia Avenue in reference to a shoplifter.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with a store employee who stated that they observed a male subject steal items while inside the store.  Contact was made with the subject who was identified as Zachary Hunter McMillan.  McMillan was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  McMillan was then issued a criminal citation charging him with theft and was released from Police Headquarters.

Zachary Hunter McMillan – age 24 – Oldtown, MD

Charges:

Theft

 

Bench Warrant Served

On Monday, September 22, 2014 the Cumberland Police Department arrested Michael Harris on a Parole Retake Warrant.  The warrant stems from Harris violation conditions of his parole.  Harris was served with the warrant than taken directly to the Department of Corrections, Western Correctional Institution.

Arrested:

Michael Harris – age 29 – Cumberland, MD

Charges;

Bench warrant for failing to follow the conditions of his parole.

 

Bench Warrant Served

On Monday, September 22, 2014 the Cumberland Police Department arrested Taryn Denise Hartley-George on a bench warrant.  The warrant charges Hartley-George with failing to appear for a court date.  Hartley-George was served with the warrant then taken to District Court for her initial appearance.  Hartley-George was then released on her personal recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.

Bench warrant for failing to appear.

 

Bench Warrant Served

On Monday, September 22, 2014 the Cumberland Police Department arrested Mark Feodor Smith Sr on a Circuit Court Bench Warrant.  The warrant charges Smith with failing to appear for his court date.  Smith was served with the warrant then taken directly to the Allegany County Detention Center where he was held without bond until his next court date.

Circuit Court bench warrant for failing to appear for court.

Trespassing Arrest

On Monday, September 22, 2014 the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of Queen City Drive on the CSX Railroad Tracks in reference to a check on well being of a subject on the train tracks.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with James Oliver Long.  Long became very belligerent with officers and requested that he “just be locked up”.  This area of the tracks is clearly marked with no trespassing signs.  Long was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Long was later taken to District Court for his initial appearance and was released on his personal recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.

Charges:

Trespassing.

 

Obstructing and Hindering Arrest

On Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at approximately 12:09 a.m., a Cumberland Police Officer on patrol encountered a suspicious vehicle parked after hours in the Constitution Park.  The officer made contact with the two occupants of the vehicle and upon investigating found that the male subject provided the officer with a false name.  This subject was identified by the officer as Daniel Lamar Wagstaff.  Wagstaff was currently wanted on two arrest warrants.  Both warrants charge Wagstaff with previous assaults.  Wagstaff was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Wagstaff was served with the two arrest warrants and was additionally charged with obstructing and hindering and using a false identity to avoid prosecution.  Wagstaff was taken to District Court for his initial appearance and was released after posting bond of a total of $5,000.00.
