On Saturday, January 18, 2014 at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence located in the 300 block of Helen Street in reference to a female acting out of control and destroying property inside this residence.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with the male victim who stated that Patricia Joan Boggs arrived at his residence intoxicated and began to yell and scream at him.  The victim stated that Boggs attacked him and ripped his shirt.  The victim stated that Boggs then began to throw items in the residence causing damage to a front window of the residence, glass door of a wooden hutch cabinet.  The victim stated the total amount of damages caused by Boggs is estimated at $3,000.00.

Boggs was then placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  During a search of Boggs' purse a prescription bottle with the label removed was located.  Inside this bottle was a controlled dangerous substance that Boggs did not have a prescription for.

Arrested:

Patricia Joan Boggs – age 45 – Cumberland, MD

Charges:

Second degree assault, destruction of property, unlawfully removing a label of a prescription drug, possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

 

Tree Down_______________________________Saturday, January 18, 2014

On Saturday, January 18, 2014 at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to Fayette Street near Brooke Avenue in reference to a large tree falling on an occupied parked vehicle.  When the tree fell it brought down several power lines, heavily damaged the vehicle and blocked Fayette Street completely.  The Cumberland Fire Department, Cumberland City Street Department and Allegany Power all responded to the scene.

The vehicle, a 1992 Oldsmobile passenger car was occupied by Robert George Kiiffner, age 68 of Cumberland, MD.  Kiiffner was not injured but his vehicle was heavily damaged as the tree struck the rear portion.  Kiiffner advised officers that he was ok and not injured.  Kiiffner remained seated in his vehicle until Allegany Power arrived and rendered the downed power lines safe.  Kiiffner stated that he just pulled over and parked so he could obey Maryland's hands free device law.

Fayette Street was blocked at Brooke Avenue and Wills Creek Avenue while the tree was removed and power lines were repaired.

On Saturday, January 18, 2014 the Cumberland Police Department served criminal summonses on the following subjects;

Kerri Anne Bohrer – age 40 – Cumberland, MD.  Charges; fourth degree burglary, trespassing, assault second degree, disturbing the peace,

Christopher Nelson Frazier 2nd – age 29 – Cumberland, MD.  Charges; second degree assault.

Matthew Scott Miller – age 26 – Cumberland, MD.  Charges; harassment and telephone misuse.

Shane Michael Lohr – age 31 – Cumberland, MD.  Charges; theft.

 

Destruction of Property______________________Saturday, January 18, 2014

 

The Cumberland Police Department is investigating the vandalism / destruction of property to the Veterans War Memorial located on S. Centre Street.  This memorial has been vandalized twice within the last week.  The Cumberland Police Department is asking that anyone with information please call the police department at 301-777-1600 or Crime Solvers at 301-722-4300.
