Theft Arrest

On January 29, 2014 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Dollar General located at 662 Greene Street for a shoplifting complaint.  Upon the officers arrival they were advised by the store manager that she observed Jamie Lynn Pifer place four items in her purse.  Pifer left the store where she was stopped by management and the stolen items were recovered.  Pifer admitted to the police that she took the items from the store without paying.  Pifer was arrested and transported the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Pifer was issued a criminal citation and released pending her trial in District Court.

Charge: Theft less than $100

 

 

Assault Arrest

On January 29, 2014 at approximately 10:15pm officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 325 Pennsylvania Avenue for a reported assault complaint.  When officers arrived they made contact with the victim at her apartment door.  Officers were advised by the victim that she was grabbed by Gary Lee Smith.  Officers checked the victim for injuries, but did not observe any as a result of the alleged assault.  Mr. Smith who also resided at 325 Pennsylvania Avenue was escorted by officers back to his apartment and informed to have no further contact with the victim.  At approximately 11:25pm officers from the Cumberland City Police Department were dispatched back to the same address for another assault complaint.  Upon the officers arrival they made contact with the victim who said Gary Smith returned to her apartment and grabbed her.  As a result of both incidents, Smith was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Smith was taken before the District Court Commissioner and held on $3,000 bond.

Charges: 2nd Degree Assault, Failure to obey and Disturbing the Peace.
