On Sunday January 5, 2014, Cumberland City Police served a Criminal Summons on David Painter, age 38 of Cumberland for the charge of Theft.  On December 13, 2013, Officers responded to a business on Canal Street and made contact with the owners of the establishment.  It was revealed that Painter, who was an employee, was allegedly observed by video surveillance cameras taking a quantity of currency from the business.  Painter was served and released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.

CHARGE:  Theft Less than $1,000.00.

POSSESSION OF MARIHUANA

On Sunday January 5, 2014, at 2:51 pm, a Cumberland City Police Officer on patrol observed a vehicle make an illegal turn on West Oldtown Road.  The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, who was later identified as Tyrone Miner, age 35 of Keyser West Virginia.  Miner initially gave the officer a false name.  A K9 officer responded to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle and results of the scan were positive for the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.  A search was conducted and a quantity of suspected Marihuana was recovered.   A check for wanted for Miner was conducted and it was revealed that he was wanted out of Washington County Maryland for failure to appear.  Miner was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing where he was charged, processed and taken to the Allegany County Detention Center.

CHARGES:  Possession of Marihuana less than 10 grams.  Driving on suspended license, Failure to obey traffic device upon making turn, Driver providing false name to uniformed police officer.
