City man facing assault, false imprisonment charges

On Thursday October 15, 2015, Cumberland City Police served an arrest warrant on William Broadus, age 46 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The warrant was issued as a result September 28, 2015 Assault incident that occurred at a private residence in the 1900 block of Frederick Street.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Broadus allegedly assaulted his wife, choked her and briefly put a pillow over her head.  The victim broke free and was struck by Broadus in the face with a closed fist.  Broadus was processed, served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing.   He was released on his personal recognizance pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.  The victim did not require medical attention.

LITTERING

On Thursday October 15, 2015, at 8:40 am, Cumberland City Police Officers responded the 400 block of Columbia Street for a littering complaint.  Upon arrival officers observed Candie Bettis throwing dog feces out in the street and striking a parked car.  Bettis was placed in custody and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where she was criminally cited and released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.
