Police investigating burglaries

October 24th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland City Police are seeking the public’s assistance with two current burglary investigations in the North End of Cumberland.  The two burglaries occurred sometime during the early morning hours of October 23, 2014 in the 300 block of Bellevue St. and the 400 block of Baltimore Ave.  During both burglaries forced entry was made into the residences and the homes were ransacked.   Also during the burglaries an undisclosed amount of money was taken along with a camera.  Anyone with information on either of these crimes is asked to contact the Cumberland Police at 301-777-1600, or Allegany County Crime Solvers at 301-722-4300.

On 10/22/14 at 3:59 p.m., officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to the 300 block of Race St. for a disturbance.  When officers arrived they contacted Leonard Sorrells II, and another female.  Officers investigating the complaint found that argument was a family dispute and advised both parties to keep the peace.  Officers then left the area.  At 4:30 p.m., officers again responded to the same address for another disturbance.  When officers arrived the second time they found Sorrells and the female again were arguing.  Officers were able to de-escalate the situation and again asked them to keep the peace.  At 5:07 p.m., officers for the third time responded to the residence for another disturbance.  When officers arrived on the scene they contacted Sorrells who again was causing a disturbance.  Officers were able to speak to complainants and other victims in the area that were being disturbed by the actions of Sorrells.  At this time officers placed Sorrells under arrest and transported him to the Cumberland Police Department. Sorrells was then processed, issued a Criminal Citation, and released pending trial in District Court.
