City man faces assault charges

ASSAULT

At approx. 1315hrs, officers were dispatched to a Queen City Drive location in reference disturbance involving a knife.  Officers arrived and made contact with the victim who reported that a male subject ran up to him and started yelling at him. The suspect then pulled a sharp object and threatened to stab the victim.  The victim was able to provide a good description of the sharp object displayed.  Officers located a subject in the area who matched the description given.  The officers located a chisel on the suspect which matched the description given by the victim and witnesses in the area.  At this time the suspect Frederick Earl Bolinger was taken into custody and transported to the Cumberland Police Headquarters for processing.  Bolinger was later transported to the District Court Commissioner’s Office where he was held on a temporary commitment at the Allegany County Detention Center.

DOMESTIC CALL

At approx. 2240hrs, an officer from the Cumberland Police Department was flagged down in the 900 block of Maryland Avenue.  The officer learned that the female victim had a male subject at her residence causing a disturbance and refusing to leave.  She stated Marley Powell entered her residence without permission and would not leave after being asked to do so.  The female victim stated that she was afraid to enter the residence because Powell was still inside.  The officers checked the residence and discovered that Powell had fled through the rear of the residence.

At approx. 2302hrs, officers were called back to the residence for a possible assault in progress.  Upon their arrival the officers located the female victim outside the residence on the sidewalk.  She advised officers the Powell had returned to the residence kicking in the door and entering the home.  Once inside he chased the victim throughout the inside of the residence.  The victim dialed 911 for assistance but during that call Powell took her cellular phone damaging it. Powell again fled the residence prior to the arrival of officers. 

An officer remained inside the residence for a short time when he heard a loud noise at the front of the residence.  The officer went to the area of noise and located Powell back inside the residence.  Powell was taken into custody without incident.  He was transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Powell was later taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held on $5,000.00 bond.
