Cumberland man arrested following assault

ASSAULT

On Monday December 28, 2015, at 9:18 am, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to a private residence in the 200 block of North Mechanic Street for an assault.  Upon arrival officers made contact with Edward McGreevy age 53 of Cumberland, Maryland.  Officers immediately observed drops of blood on McGreevy’s eyeglasses and wrists.  The victim in this matter was located in the upstairs of the residence.  It was revealed that McGreevy assaulted the victim with a frying pan and a bamboo stick.  Cumberland Fire/Ambulance responded to the residence and transported the victim to the Western Maryland Regional Center for medical treatment.  McGreevy was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was process and served.  He was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing and was held on a $20,000.00 dollar bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

CHARGES:  Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment, False Imprisonment.

 

 

SUMMONS SERVICE

On Monday December 28, 2015, Cumberland City Police served a Criminal Summons on Brianna Goetz, age 21 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The summons was issued as a result of a November 22, 2015 Theft investigation handled by officers at a business on Virginia Avenue.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Goetz obtained the service of a cab service.  Upon completion of the fare, Goetz failed to pay for services rendered.  She was served and released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.

CHARGE:  Theft less than $100.00 dollars.
