Disorderly Conduct Arrest
On December 4, 2013 an officer from the Cumberland City Police Department was patrolling the area of East Oldtown Road and Grand Avenue when he heard a male yelling and cursing at a female. The officer made contact with both subjects and identified the male subject as Donald Ray Devore. Devore was advised by the officer that the church across the street was holding an evening function and he needed to lower his voice. While the officer was speaking with Devore he started yelling and cursing at the officer. Devore was told to lower his voice or he would be subject to arrest. Devore failed to obey the officer's orders and continued to yell, using profane language. The officer approached Devore and told him he was under arrest. Devore resisted the officer's arrest by failing to place his hands behind his back and pulling away from the officer. Devore was eventually taken into custody at the scene. During a search of Devore incident to arrest, the officer located a baggie of marijuana on his person. Devore was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing. Devore was later taken to the District Court Commissioners Office for a bond hearing. Devore was later held in the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

Charges: Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and Possession of Marijuana.

Monday, November 25th, 2013 Theft Arrest
On 11/25/13 the Cumberland Police Department responded to Fastenal, located at 1050 West Industrial Boulevard for theft complaint. When officers arrived, an employee of Fastenal told them that a male identified as Samuel Edward Crock Jr, age 41, left the store without paying for a DeWalt hammer drill and a Milwaukee cordless screwdriver. Officers located Crock a short distance away and recovered the Milwaukee cordless driver in a bag that Crock was carrying. The DeWalt hammer drill kit was found by Fastenal employees’ outside of the store. Crock told officers that he discarded the hammer drill when he left the store after realizing the case only contained a battery; not the drill. Crock was arrest and transported to the Cumberland City Police Station for processing. The hammer drill and cordless screwdriver were valued at $433.83 and Crock was charged with theft less than $1,000. He was then take to the District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center, held on a $2,500 bond.
