Motor Vehicle Accident

On May 13, 2013 at approximately 6:42 p.m. the Cumberland City Police Department responded to the 200 block of Cumberland Street for single vehicle accident with injuries.  When officers arrived on the scene, they observed a 2005 Ford Escape that had struck a telephone pole and was overturned on its roof.   The vehicle was resting on the sidewalk area in front of 216 Cumberland Street.  The Cumberland City Fire Department responded to the scene and had to extract the driver, Traci Glotfelty.  The Cumberland Fire Department extricated Glotfelty and transported her to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

Based on evidence at the scene and witness statements, it appeared that Glotfelty was traveling eastbound on Cumberland Street, veered off the roadway in the area of 216 Cumberland Street and collided with a light pole.   As a result of colliding with the light pole, Glotfelty sheared off the pole and her vehicle overturned after striking the front porch steps at 216 Cumberland Street.  Two street signs were also damaged from the accident.  Allegany Power was notified and later responded to assist with the damage caused to the light pole.  Glotfelty's vehicle was towed from the scene by All City Towing.   Charges are pending as a result of the accident.
