Thursday, March 12, 2015 @ 2:16 AM Carjacking Arrest Officers responded to a report of an assault on Virginia Ave. Prior to the officer’s arrival they were advised that the suspects left the area in a vehicle driving towards Industrial Blvd. While on the way to the call an officer observed a vehicle matching the description along with another vehicle on Industrial Blvd. Both cars were stopped and the operators were contacted. The operator of the suspect vehicle was identified as Thomas Wright. While talking with him officers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Wright refused field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. It was also learned that his privilege to drive in the state of West Virginia was revoked. Wright was also wanted in the State of West Virginia for Larceny. While the officer was talking with Wright the operator of the second vehicle got out and contacted officers. She advised that the passenger in her car identified as Hawke Coffman had forced her to drive him in her car. She advised that they were in the 1100 Blk of Virginia Ave. when they were attacked by Coffman and Wright. She advised that a passenger in the car was pulled from the vehicle and also assaulted. This victim was able to get away and run to a house where he called the police. Coffman then jumped into the passenger seat, and continued to assault her striking her in the face and choking her. Coffman made her drive him to West Virginia telling her that he would kill her. During this time Coffman destroyed the vehicle’s dash area. Once in West Virginia he told her to drive back to Maryland and that is when they got stopped. The victim had injuries consistent with being assaulted but did not require any medical attention. Coffman was placed under arrest and transported to PH also. Hawke Anthony Coffman Age: 24 Oldtown Rd., Cumberland, MD. Charges: 2 Cts. 2nd Degree Assault, Carjacking, DOP over $1000 Coffman was taken for a Bond Hearing and held in the ACDC on a $100000 Bond. Thomas Edward Wright Age: 26 Piedmont St., Keyser, WV. Charges: DUI, Driving Revoked, Fugitive Warrant Wright was held without Bail at the ACDC awaiting extradition to West Virginia.
