Saturday afternoon, Cumberland Police responded to a residence on Arch Street.  While police were on scene and speaking with the victim, 37 year old Charles Harrison Tasker arrived at the residence.  Further investigation revealed there was an active protective order prohibiting Tasker from having contact with the victim or being at the residence.  Tasker was placed under arrest for violation of the protective order.  Tasker was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was released on his personal recognizance.

Early this morning, Cumberland Police stopped a vehicle on Baltimore Street for erratic driving.  The officer made contact with the operator, 22 year old Ryan Quinton Knowlton, of Bloomington, Indiana, and upon further investigation suspicion was gained that Knowlton was operating the motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  Knowlton refused to submit to field sobriety tests, refused to exit the vehicle, and became belligerent towards the officers on scene.  Knowlton was escorted from the vehicle and ultimately charged with resisting arrest, DUI, and DWI.  He was also charged with possession of hypodermic syringes after they were observed in plain view inside the vehicle.
