Police Make Protective Order & Warrant Arrests

April 6th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

On Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at approximately 11:23 am, Officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of the 200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue for a report of a disturbance.  Upon the Officers arrival they could hear a male and a female yelling from inside of a residence.  Officers contacted both subjects, Jarrett McBurroughs and Shaniqua Wiley.  Officers spoke with McBurroughs outside of the residence and he was yelling and using profanity.  McBurroughs was advised numerous times to lower his voice and stop creating a disturbance but he continued to yell over the Officer and use profanity.  Several neighbors were outside at the time of the incident and were disturbed as a result.  After being advised several times to keep his voice down, McBurroughs continued to yell and he was advised he was under arrest.  McBurroughs did not cooperate and began to pull away from Officer’s attempts to place him under arrest.  He was advised to stop resisting and he refused as he continued to pull away from Officers as well as yell, use profanity and continue the disturbance.  During this time Wiley was advised to stay inside the residence.  As the Officers were placing McBurroughs under arrest, Wiley began to yell and approach the Officers and attempted to push her way through to McBurroughs.  Wiley was advised several times to back away and to not interfere with the Police.  Wiley refused and continued to yell and try to get to McBurroughs and interfere with the Police.  Wiley was then also placed under arrest.  McBurroughs continued to yell and cause a disturbance until he was transported to the Cumberland Police Department.  Wiley was also transported to the Police Department.  McBurroughs and Wiley were processed and taken before the Allegany County District Court Commissioner.  Both were then remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center.  McBurroughs was held on $5,000 bond and Wiley was held on $2,600 bond.
