Polk Street Parking Issues

Residents of a Polk Street neighborhood could finally have a solution to parking problems that have been an issue for years- but it won’t be easy. City officials were hoping for an easy to implement residential parking permit program- however City Administrator Jeff Rhodes explained this week that there are any number of hurdles ranging from the type and number of permits; fees; signage and enforcement. On-street parking on Polk Street is in short supply partly because of high-volume parking needs at the International Beauty School. Polk Street resident Joe Delosier first asked council for help 18 months ago and returned last month at which time he criticized the officials for not acting on the matter. Councilman Harold “Butch” Hendershot agreed- saying the council deserves to be taken to task for its in-action on this issue…
