January 25th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

Maryland’s Primary Election is early this year, slated for April 26th- and that means there is now less than two weeks for any potential candidates to file to run for office. In Allegany County, just two local races with two seats available on the Board of Education and Cumberland’s City Council. On the school board, incumbent candidates up for re-election are Nick Hadley and Ed Root. Hadley has already filed, however Root told WCBC News late last year that he does not intend to seek another term. In Cumberland the council seats currently occupied by Nicole Alt Myers and David Caporale are up. While no one had filed as of Friday, Caporale has indicated that he will run again, while it appears Myers will not as she looks ahead to a possible run at a state seat in 2018.  Early Voting for the Primary Election – Thursday, April 14, 2016 through Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 10 am until 8 pm. Diane Loibel, Election Director of Allegany County, tells WCBC News the early voting numbers may be stronger this year given that there is a presidential contest on the ballot…
