Potomac Highlands Airport Authority Revokes Cumberland’s Board Seat

March 9th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

In a surprising move at the most recent meeting, the Potomac Highlands Airport Authority voted to revoke the city of Cumberland’s seat on the board. City Councilwoman Nicole Alt-Myers has held that position the last three years, but decided to resign earlier this month. She was not in attendance at the February meeting when the action was apparently voted upon. In a letter from the Authority dated February 26th, but received by the city just this week, it is outlined that that Authority has decided to “realign the composition of the Board”  with the city seat revoked. According to the letter, which is signed by PHAA Chair Dr Gregg Wolff, the Board will now have four voting members appointed by the state of West Virginia and Mineral County, and five voting members appointed by the Allegany County Commissioners. It will fall to the Allegany County Commissioners to fill the seat vacated by Alt-Myers. Cumberland Mayor Brian Grim tells WCBC News he, and his fellow council members including Alt-Myers, were caught completely by surprise…
