Program Open Space Projects List Approved By Commissioners

The Allegany County Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the Program Open Space projects list to be submitted to the state for consideration. Program Open Space (POS) is a nationally recognized program with two components, a local grant component often called Localside POS and a component that funds acquisition and recreation facility development by the State. The Localside component provides financial and technical assistance to local subdivisions for the planning, acquisition, and/or development of recreation land or open space areas. Projects approved for FY 2012 include: upgrades to Glendenning Park in Frostburg; fencing for Abrams Field in Cumberland; and phase One funding for a ball field and walking track in McCoole.
