Public Hearing On Proposed Columbia Gas Rate Increase Held

While it’s a subject that makes nearly everyone angry and ready to vent- just five citizens spoke out Tuesday night when the Maryland Public Service Commission held a public hearing on a proposed rate increase from Columbia Gas. Columbia Gas is asking for an increase that would raise $5.3 million in revenue. It would raise rates just over 16 percent for average retail customers. The hearing was conducted by Terry Romine, the chief public utilities judge at the PSC. She said she will likely make a ruling in early August.
