Public Input Sessions For Garrett Superintendent Search March 21

March 8th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

As the Garrett County Board of Education begins its search for a new superintendent, facilitators from the Maryland Association of Boards of Education will host two public input sessions at Garrett College on March 21.

Superintendent Janet Wilson notified the school board in February she would not seek reappointment to the position.

A session for Garrett County Public School employees will begin at 4:30 p.m. and a community session will start at 6:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held in Room 205 of the Continuing Education Building.

Those who would like to voice their ideas and concerns are asked to begin by considering the following questions:

• What are things that make Garrett County a very special place to work, live and learn?

• What are qualities/characteristics that you would like to see in your new superintendent?

• What are some challenges that a new superintendent will face in upcoming years?

Anyone unable to attend the forum is encouraged to submit comments in writing to Kitty Blumsack at kblumsack@mabe.org by March 25.

In late spring, selected representatives such as teachers, administrators, support staff, bus drivers, the business community, parents associations and service groups will be invited to interview the final candidates.
